People are our company’s greatest asset
Olga Yakymchuk, Lead HR Development at SharksCode, spoke about how the company listens to colleagues’ suggestions during the All-Ukrainian online marathon “Teams That Change Business,” organized by the HR Brand Ukraine Award.
“In these challenging times, we’re doing everything we can to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. Health insurance, career growth, flexible work arrangements, and a pet-friendly office (yes, you can bring your four-legged friend!)—all of this is just part of our approach,” Olga emphasized.
During one of our team surveys, we noticed that stress and external circumstances had caused anxiety levels among employees to rise. We asked the team for suggestions on how we could provide even more support. One employee suggested organizing regular training sessions at a training ground where everyone could learn survival skills, tactical medicine, and engineering training—and feel that they weren’t alone in this situation. And so, since May 2024, this program has been running every weekend.
Every week, more and more employees are joining the sessions, and by this summer, over 20% of the team had participated in the program.
A series of surveys we conducted in the second quarter of 2024 showed that anxiety levels decreased by 10%, while trust in the employer and the eNPS increased by 30%.
“To be honest, I’m very proud of our colleagues, and I believe that turning employee initiatives into company projects is the most effective approach. The most important thing in our work is to listen to the team and understand their needs and concerns,” Olya admitted.
Being part of SharksCode means more than just working at the company. It means feeling supported every day, growing alongside the team, and knowing that we’re always there for each other during tough times. Together we’re stronger!
